The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is preparing to file a comprehensive 2,500-page chargesheet against former Member of Parliament Prajwal Revanna and his father, Holenarasipura MLA H.D. Revanna.

 The charges stem from serious allegations of rape and sexual assault, with the chargesheet expected to be submitted to the court on Saturday, August 24.

The investigation, which has been in the works for several years, details accusations against both father and son. H.D. Revanna is listed as Accused No. 1 in the case, facing charges under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 354 and 354(A). His son, Prajwal Revanna, is Accused No. 2, with charges including IPC sections 376, 376(2)(k), 354, 354(a), 354(b), and others. The charges relate to incidents that occurred in 2020.

The 2020 Incident: A Shocking Case of Abuse

The allegations first surfaced in 2020 when a domestic help working in H.D. Revanna's residence in Holenarasipura accused him of sexual assault. During the same year, when Prajwal’s mother, Bhavani Revanna, was reportedly away, Prajwal is alleged to have raped the domestic help. Furthermore, Prajwal Revanna is accused of coercing the domestic help's daughter into making a video call and forcing her to strip. When she refused, the former MP allegedly threatened her with severe consequences.

Prajwal Revanna’s Arrest and Ongoing Investigation

Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, fled the country shortly after the Lok Sabha elections on April 26, 2020, as explicit video clips allegedly involving him with multiple women began circulating. He was eventually arrested by the SIT on May 31, 2024, upon returning to Bengaluru from Germany and has remained in custody since then.

The SIT's investigation has been extensive, recording statements from 137 witnesses. The case has garnered significant public attention due to the high-profile nature of the accused and the serious nature of the charges. As the SIT prepares to file the chargesheet, all eyes are on the legal proceedings that will follow.
